Missoni Boss Missing After Plane Vanishes
MISSONI boss Vittorio Missoni and his wife, Maurizia Castiglioni, are missing, after a small plane carrying the couple disappeared off the coast of Venezuela mid-morning on Friday. The pair were among six people on board the flight from the archipelago of Los Roques towards Caracas' Maiquetia airport. A search is currently in operation.
The 58-year-old businessman is the eldest son of the brand's founders Ottavio and Rosita Missoni. He and his wife were returning from a Christmas holiday with two friends, Elda Scalvenzi and Guido Foresti. Two Venezuelan pilots were also on the BN-2 aircraft.
"The Missoni company today confirms that Vittorio Missoni and his wife are missing inVenezuela," a statement from the brand read yesterday. "The small plane they were travelling on has disappeared. This is all the information currently available. The company await news from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all other institutions involved, to whom the company are very grateful their swift help and assistance. As more information becomes available the company will issue further statements. The company asks the press to kindly respect the family's privacy at this time."
Vittorio Missoni has worked for the family business since the Eighties and has been strongly involved in the global expansion of the brand.

Naomi Campbell attacked in Paris
A SPOKESPERSON for Naomi Campbell has declined to comment over reports stating that the supermodel was robbed and attacked in Paris last month. The London-born beauty is allegedly suffering from a torn ligament, after being "knocked over and robbed" by thieves as she tried to hail a taxi. Although the model has refused to comment on the news, she told The New York Post that she is feeling "fine".
"It was terrifying. Naomi believes the assailant had been watching her, casing her out, and waited for a moment to strike when she was alone," a source told The New York Post. "She was attacked in the street as she hailed a cab, and robbed. Her leg was injured as she was violently pushed to the ground. She was understandably very upset and shaken up."
Campbell has recently been photographed in a wheelchair, but is it not known as to whether her injury is related to this morning's reports. Speculation states that the model was targeted because of expensive jewellery she is rumoured to have been wearing on the day of the attack. Her boyfriend, businessman Vladimir Doronin, reportedly flew her by private jet to Colorado where she was treated by leading orthopaedic surgeon J. Richard Steadman. She is said to be recovering in Miami.
